A new innovation in building surveying offers clear benefits to Prendos clients. Prendos 360 utilises the developing technology of 360o cameras, together with our existing external mapping with drone imaging service, plus third party floorplan software. Prendos 360 combines and augments these technologies into an end user product that breaks new ground in surveying and reporting.  

With the roots of the surveying profession dating back to the rebuild of London following the Great Fire in 1666, building surveyors have long been at the forefront of evolutions in the built environment, embracing the use of technology as it develops. Surveyors were early adopters of drone technology to survey structures that would otherwise require expensive access equipment. What was once specialist equipment is now commonplace amongst our tools.  

Thermal imaging, high-definition borescopes and GPS technology in land measurement are other examples of surveyors’ innovative use of technology. Data collection and recording is now in the palms of our hands in the form of phones and tablet devices. Surveyors are very good at embracing technology once it becomes affordable.  

But the reporting process to the client has not kept pace with modern innovations. In some circles it is considered progressive when a report is emailed to the client instead of printed!

Recognising technology for the external mapping of a building could also be used as a platform for internally mapping a building, Prendos 360 builds on our pioneering use of drone technology and reaches higher still. We are revolutionising reporting to deliver the information the client needs in a way that has never been so clear, so collaborative, so dynamic – its game changing. 

Hosted within the cloud, the report allows collaboration and sharing instantly with real time updates. Our clients can instantly identify issues reported on. This overcomes the difficulty of locating an exact area of concern. Large buildings are now no more difficult to navigate within a report as a simple duplex.  

Issues can be focused by severity, cost, type, whatever the purpose of the report. These issues can be updated as they are resolved with before and after views. The format also provides the benefit of reporting of non-issues. The lack of damage or issue is evidenced in high-definition clarity – of particular importance in pre and post-development surveys – vastly reducing the client’s liability. 

Sequential surveys on the subject building can be catalogued in a project, separated by dates, and reported on in the same fashion. Side-by-side views compare elements, selectable by date, providing a timelapse review. Works progress and quality assessment is brought into a new age with X-ray views as well as side-by-side comparisons. Issues can be opened and closed as appropriate and access at varying levels can be granted to client, surveyor, contractor and other professionals, creating a truly collaborative environment without ambiguity.
