Raised and educated in Germany, Dirk has called Rotorua home for the past 13 years. He combines local knowledge with over eight years’ experience in building surveying to provide clients with sound, accurate, quality advice for informed decision making.
For all the right reasons, Dirk brings an unusual combination of career achievements to his role at Prendos. Beginning his career as a trade qualified cabinetmaker, he sought further qualification as a timber processing engineer which later led him towards PhD thesis research here in New Zealand – investigating decay fungi in leaky buildings. In 2009 Dirk completed his Doctor of Philosophy at Waikato University and joined Prendos that same year. Since then he’s investigated and prepared reports into cause of building defects and conditions, provided technical expert advice in property insurance claims and timber product failures, provided remedial design recommendations and prepared commercial due diligence pre-acquisition reports.
Dirk loves the personal and technical challenges every building project throws at him and is known to manage these impartially and with great skill. He recently completed two $1.5M projects in the Bay of Plenty and Waikato, reinstating defective and natural disaster damaged commercial properties to a new modern look.
Equipped with either tool belt or tie, Dirk is confident in both worlds. This enables him to advise a diverse range of clients and develop Prendos’s commercial building surveying and project management services to our expanding Central North Island client base.
