With a passion and commitment to quality housing, Mark focusses his design skills on residential design, from individual bespoke ‘dream’ homes, developer led subdivisions, thoughtful and well-planned terraced housing and apartments, and specialist social housing. Mark is skilled at balancing spatial design, light and materiality with brief, site and budget constraints, and communicates his design ideas with clients using 3D visualisation software.
Early on in his work life, Mark’s talents for computer graphics and people management enabled him to build a successful 17-year career in the pre-press and printing industry. Having made the decision to switch from print to architectural design he completed his BArch (Hons) at Auckland University as a ‘mature’ student; a professional accomplishment, he says, for which he extends much credit to his supportive wife.
Following several years experience carrying out project design and management for two mid-size design practices in Auckland, Mark now puts to good use skills he learnt as a pre-press production and account manager – dextrous operational control in the face of tight deadlines – to prepare architectural designs and image visualisations, including 3D rendering for Respond-Architect’s highly varied client base.
