Chris qualified with a Bachelor of Science (BSc) with Honours at the University of Ulster in Northern Ireland in 2008. During this period, he also completed a Diploma in Industrial Studies (DIS) with a local consenting authority, assisting with plan and building compliance assessments in both residential and commercial sectors. Ultimately, it was this professional experience that ignited his interest and passion in the built environment.
As a consequence of the global financial crisis, he departed for New Zealand seeking adventure and new opportunities. That’s been ongoing for 15 years, he and his family are now embedded into all aspects of Kiwi life.
Chris has practiced as a building surveyor, project manager and expert witness for all his professional career in New Zealand with Prendos, where he is also an Associate and recipient of their Founders Award.
His knowledge and experience are based on years of surveying buildings, construction monitoring and administering complex construction contracts. This includes new builds and remediation of existing buildings such as schools, houses, warehouses, apartments, and hotels.
His professional career highlight is assisting as an expert witness in some of New Zealand’s largest multi-million-dollar class action lawsuits against cladding manufacturers and suppliers of cladding systems before they eventually settled. His involvement included the surveying of hundreds of buildings nationally, evidence gathering, defect analysis and meticulous reporting, and preparing briefs of evidence for the High Court – an invaluable experience that has shaped various aspects of how services are managed and delivered.
