As Director, Senior Project Manager and Building Surveyor, Mark is part of a thriving and well respected team, and currently oversees human resources, as well as Project Director liaising with the Ministry of Education in regards to their building programmes currently underway throughout New Zealand. Mark is also responsible for project management and asbestos surveying at board level.Mark’s past focus has been on some of Prendos’ larger repair projects including high rise buildings and schools. His technical experience, open minded approach and can-do attitude make Mark an ideal trouble shooter and problem solver on a broad range of construction issues.

During his career, Mark has been responsible for managing the design, costing, construction and handover of small through to large construction projects both in New Zealand and South Africa. He has had in-depth experience with procurement, financial analysis, and project management, from the conceptual stage through to handing over completed buildings and facilities, in the Body Corporate, Commercial, Health and Educational sectors.

In 2002, Mark joined Prendos and focused his expertise and technical knowledge on the area of building surveying and has performed numerous initial and destructive investigations, primarily associated with leaky buildings. He has undertaken cost analyses of repairs, and is well versed in contract administration and tendering. In 2006, Mark was a key expert witness to the Auckland High Court in the Dicks vs Hobson Swan case that has become a landmark in further defining the roles and responsibilities of various parties in the construction process.

Marks practical and technical expertise and well-suited qualifications enable him to address many construction issues and problems including identifying and minimising water ingress in buildings, analysis of the effects of moisture on building materials, understanding the merits of various cladding systems and particularly identifying and dealing to decay in timber. Mark has gained the IP402 (asbestos surveying and sampling) which with his other expertise will provide clients with all round service oversight.

In the area of project management, Mark has been instrumental in starting up a dedicated team of project managers who assist with the delivery of new construction and remediation projects from design through to construction completion.
