Andrew is a Chartered Civil Engineer with extensive commercial experience in the design and construction of steel, concrete, composite, timber and masonry structures; on projects ranging from the small and traditional, to the large and innovative: new build and refurbishment. Sectors include residential, commercial, retail, leisure, medical and defence; with designs in accordance with British, European and US standards.
His experience includes the design and detailing of building alterations, refurbishments and conversions of existing buildings; from domestic alterations to Grade 1 listed buildings.
He is recognized as a team leader able to deal with a wide range of technical issues with a high degree of autonomy; responsible for project progress, quality, and client satisfaction.
A former Business Analyst / IT Consultant, he possesses a unique set of skills related to the application of Information Technology to the Construction Industry; in particular, Building Information Modelling (BIM) and Computer Integrated Manufacturing (CIM).
He is also a Technical Specialist in nuclear safety structures designed to withstand the effects of extreme loading including seismic, blast, impact and explosives; responsible for design reviews and regulatory interfaces.
Until his recent migration to New Zealand, Andrew was providing security and engineering advice to clients requiring multi-disciplined design solutions. Specialist topics include; Hostile Vehicle Mitigation (HVM), Counter Terrorism Measures (CTM), Explosive Consequence Analysis (ECA), Probable Maximum Loss (PML) Studies, Human Vulnerability Assessments, and casualty estimates for terrorist scenarios proposed by clients for various sites around the world.
