AhSeng Chew is a Chartered Structural Engineer who specialises in structural design and construction management, as well as seismic assessments of commercial and industrial buildings.
Originally from Malaysia, AhSeng was drawn to structural engineering because he enjoyed maths and physics most at school. He later studied engineering to Masters level at the University of Canterbury, before beginning his career in civil structures and bridge engineering in Napier, and later working as a senior structural engineer in Auckland. His extensive career to date has seen him involved in several major projects, including acting as lead engineer for a complex five-storey residential development in Browns Bay, as well as a 56m high bungy jump and amusement centre in Singapore.
AhSeng excels at applying his knowledge of engineering principles to complex projects, and particularly enjoys working closely with clients to develop cost-effective and buildable solutions.
Outside of work, AhSeng can often be found doing the gardening, and when he has free time, he often spends it enjoying meals with family and friends.
