The Prendos historic property team is well qualified to advise on heritage designs, construction methods and materials to ensure the appropriate preservation of historic structures.

Our team, alongside heritage surveyors and architects, has been involved in many historic building projects both in New Zealand and the United Kingdom. As such we have the professional expertise and philosophical appreciation of the need to balance heritage aspects with sound design and project administration in order to preserve historical character while providing robust and lasting solutions.

Projects undertaken by the team – which incorporates architects, structural engineers, fire engineers, project managers, valuers and building surveyors – include:

  • Auckland Art Gallery
  • University of Auckland Clock Tower
  • Central Post Office, Auckland
  • Birdcage Tavern, Auckland
  • Magistrates Court, Christchurch
  • Ferry Building, Auckland
  • Court Service, Old Bailey London
  • Railway Station, Auckland
  • St Peters School, Dublin (circa. 1891)

The conservation of our heritage buildings is critical to preserving the history of New Zealand. In recognition of this, Prendos, jointly with Heritage New Zealand, established an award scholarship for Victoria University 4th-year architecture students in 2013. The award was for integrated design of a cluster of buildings in a heritage precinct incorporating seismic retrofitting and adaptive reuse of existing heritage building fabric in Cuba Street, Wellington.

Prendos are corporate members of Heritage New Zealand, and as such Heritage New Zealand members are offered a free initial consultation (conditions apply), contact us for more information.
