Prendos was approached by the solicitor to the owners of a high-end stand-alone home, following a dispute with the local authority over ongoing weathertightness issues.
The property had been substantially damaged as a result of work incorrectly signed off by the local authority. The local authority had accepted liability for the damage, but a dispute arose over the cost of remediation work, for which the client was seeking a much higher amount than that being offered by the local authority.
Our expert witness quantity surveyors were engaged to provide a brief of evidence to support the property owners’ case, and justify the claim for a much higher amount to cover remediation costs.
With our in-depth understanding of weathertightness issues and remediation, as well as the realistic cost of such projects, we were able to make a strong case on behalf of the client. The case was initially brought to mediation, where the parties settled on a mutually agreeable figure, and avoided going to court.
Prendos was later thanked by the solicitor for our work on the case, which undoubtedly helped the claimants achieve a higher settlement figure than the local authority was initially offering.
