Having followed a unique career pathway to become a Building Surveyor, Laura is ready for any challenge the role throws at her. After starting her working life in sports management and coaching in her native England, she later re-qualified in academic practice and education, focusing on the built environment.
Working at Coventry University, Laura collaborated with the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) and Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) to develop accredited degree programmes in Building Surveying, Quantity Surveying and Construction Site Management. It was this experience that led her to become a Building Surveyor, and a desire for change and new challenges that brought her to New Zealand, where she has worked since 2023.
With excellent communication skills, a curious mind and attention to detail, Laura is a natural in her current role with Prendos. She carries out a range of building surveys including condition surveys, pre and post development surveys, quality assurance on residential buildings and weathertightness investigations, and has undertaken LTMPs for major corporate clients. She also has a special interest in cost and energy efficient retrofitting solutions that improve the existing build environment in NZ.
Outside of work Laura is understandably passionate about sport and enjoys keeping fit and getting outdoors.
