Larger, more complex projects may require modelling in 3D. Our structural engineers have the resources to carry out this work and provide BIM and ETABS modelling of the structural components of buildings.
Structural BIM modelling is developed in tandem with the architects’ modelling, which can include services to provide a real model of the complete building. This has many benefits including ensuring all elements fit within the building envelope, and any clashes can be resolved before on-site work begins. In addition, BIM modelling can offer the benefit of providing highly accurate quantities from the model for pricing.
We also have the resources to carry out ETABS modelling. ETABS is sophisticated modelling software that is essential for modelling some building types, particularly multi-storey buildings and buildings with concrete floor systems. Buildings are modelled for wind and earthquake loading and ETABS is often utilised for Detailed Seismic Assessment (DSA) reports.
Typically, larger projects would utilise both BIM and ETABS modelling for design and to produce documentation for Building Consent.
