The brief
In 2019, Prendos was engaged by the Ministry of Education (MoE) to project manage the weathertightness remediation of Block M, as well as the associated roof and upgrade works to Blocks A, B, D and E, at Kerepehi School. We were also engaged to carry out Quantity Surveying services for the project, reviewing all Variation Orders and Payment Claims.
Our solution
As Project Manager, we collaborated with the project team to ensure the high standards required by the MoE were adhered to throughout the project. Our quality management strategy focused on the quality standards and requirements expected of the contractor and how compliance would be documented and measured.
During construction, the contractor was required to maintain a Quality Management File containing Inspection and Sign Off Sheets for the various trades as well as evidence of Code Compliance. Regular site meetings and walk-throughs were conducted to assess and ensure quality throughout the project. Consultants were also required to complete QA Schedules on site, with any issues or non-conformances discussed with the contractor and resolved timeously.
The outcome
Prendos was able to successfully coordinate and project manage the execution of the works to ensure regulatory compliance, monitor progress, ensure quality and mitigate risk throughout the entire construction period.
Our Professional Quantity Surveyor reviewed all project costs and provided cost savings to the client before any instructions were approved or issued. As technical project managers, we were able to complete due diligence checks before issuing any instructions and understand how these decisions would affect the project constraints of time, cost and quality.
Through successful planning, communication and co-ordination with all project stakeholders, Prendos was able to guide the project team to successfully deliver the project to a high standard, while meeting the users’ needs and exceeding client expectations.
